[hacking the honda...]

Soooo… my wifey and I made the big plunge and bought a Honda Odyssey. I know, I know… it was the hardest purchase of our life. But belief it or not, there’s is life after the mini-van is in your garage. One of the things that makes it a bit more palatable is to hack the crap out of it.

So I got to thinking. Humm, there’s a LCD screen in the front of the vehicle, I wonder if I can tear it all apart, put a switch in, and toggle back and forth between the NAV screen and the rear DVD player. Thus, being able to watch videos as we’re driving down the road (not that I would ever participate in such an activity – only the passenger would, only the passenger). After some hunting around on the web, putting my own spin on it, etc, etc… success.

At any rate, if you’re a frustrated Oddy owner and would like to redeem yourself by having an one of a kind NAV screen, then read on. Here’s the end result:

And a quick “How to” Slideshow:

The above pics and schematics are available to download and make it your own:

Finally, if you’re really wanting to add this addition to your Oddy, but not able to swing a soldering iron, not to fear I’m happy to build the project box for you. Just drop me a line.

[how many 5 year-olds could you take in a fight?]

5

This short survey will tell you approximately how many five year old children you could fight at once. Results are based on physical prowess, training, swarm-combatting experience, and the flexibility of your moral compass. Here are the ground rules:

* You are in an enclosed area roughly the size of a basketball court
* There are no weapons or foreign objects
* Everyone is wearing a cup (so no kicks to the groin)
* The children are merciless and will show no fear
* If a child is knocked unconscious, he is “out.” The same goes for you.

Ferrari

Ferrari can be pretty anal when it comes to modifying its cars or even using its badges on a vehicle other than its own. Now the Italian supercar-maker is threatening to take legal actions against the British owner of the world’s fastest limousine, a modified 360 that can go up a top speed of 166mph – 267 km/h. According to reports, Dan Cawley, 36, of Cheadle, Manchester, has 14 days to remove all prancing horse badges, Ferrari names and “360 Modena” symbols from the 6m (20ft) supercar-limo.

“What kind of precedent does it set when you can’t do what you like with your own property?” asked Mr Cawley. Ferrari’s lawyers support that since Mr Cawley cut the 360 Modena in half and inserted a 3m (9.5ft) section of hand-built carbon fibre, the car is no longer a Ferrari, so he has to remove the badges and logos or else he’ll face legal action for infringing the Ferrari trademark.

Many of you reading this blog know that I travel to Russia every summer to spend time at the Yurievets orphanage outside of Moscow. I recently came across some photos of a country inn that is very similar to the one we normally stay in… enjoy.

You knew it wouldn’t be long… but the first functioning P2P client has hit the iphone natively. As of late, it’s strictly a terminal based function, but before long someone will probably port it to a gooey, cool GUI. More information after the jump.
